Dr. Bohannan was raised in San Mateo, California. He attended Carey School from kindergarten through 8th grade. He then graduated from Serra High School. He then attended and graduated from the University of California at Davis with a degree in Physiology and was accepted into the University of the Pacific School of surgery in San Francisco. There he graduated at the top of his class and was admitted into two dental academic honor societies, Omicron Kappa Upsilon and Tau Kappa Omega. He received multiple awards in oral surgery while at dental school.
Dr. Bohannan was then accepted into medical school at the University of Missouri in Kansas City where he graduated "with distinction" signifying high honors. He stayed in Missouri finishing his general surgery internship and oral surgery residency. While in medical school and residency, Dr. Bohannan received multiple awards. The most prestigious award was "Resident of the Year" which is given to the best resident in the entire hospital that includes all medical disciplines. Dr. Bohannan is the only resident to win this award in two consecutive years. After concluding his residency, Dr. Bohannan applied to take his board certification tests and passed with high marks. Board certification is a series of both written and oral examinations which signifies mastery in the surgical discipline of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Bohannan then moved back to the Bay Area with his wife and began practicing in the community where he grew up. His wife, an attorney who also was born and raised in the Bay Area, began practicing. Dr. Bohannan and his wife have two children. He was the Chairman of the Oral Surgery Department at Mills-Peninsula hospital for many years. His free time is spent attending various sporting events, skiing, weight training, cooking, being the local handyman, playing the guitar and spending time with his family. His other interests are videography, special effects, and building animated props. He is very active in his local dental society.
Very nice staff and doctor. I'm a very anxious person, but Dr. Bohannan really was kind, gentle, and made me feel at ease. I will go back after my medical clearance to have 2 broken teeth extracted.
Dr. Bohannan did an excellent job on my oral surgery and follow-up care! In the consultation appointment, he explained the need for the surgery and what was to be expected very well. He also gave me very clear pre- and post-surgery instructions verbally and in writing. He is very thorough. Surgery went very well and again, he explained post-surgical expectations to my relative who picked me up. The staff have been very positive and professional as well! Dr. Bohannan is a highly-skilled and dedicated oral surgeon! He cares (and together with his kind staff) provides the best possible service to his patients.
I have been going to Dr. Bohannan for many years. He is the best Oral Surgeon around.
